Concert description
Un Pied en Scene presents, in coproduction with Philbarok Production, an exceptional concert to launch its program dedicated to discovering young professional musician and opera singers. The event will take place at Salle Cortot in Paris on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 8:00 PM.
On this occasion, the bass-baritone Alexandre BALDO and the baroque ensemble MOZAÏQUE, in collaboration with Un Pied en Scène, will perform the program of their very first recording, 'CALDARA: Arias for Bass,' to be released by the Pan Classics label. This recording is dedicated to the Venetian composer Antonio CALDARA (1671-1736).
The arias and overtures in this program, the result of extensive research on manuscripts at the National Library of Vienna and recorded for the first time worldwide, will transport the audience to the splendor and magnificence of the Imperial Court of Vienna in the early 18th century.
Antonio Caldara served as the composer of the Court from 1716 until his death in 1736, in a particularly favorable context for musical creation. Indeed, Emperor Charles VI, a music enthusiast aware of the prestige it brought to his empire, provided exceptional resources for the musical productions of his court throughout his reign.
Alexandre BALDO, the winner of the 2021 Concorso Musica Sacra in Rome, has been performing since 2021 with Le Concert Spirituel under the direction of Hervé NIQUET. In the fall of 2023, he will record as a soloist 'Israel in Egypt' by HÄNDEL. In 2022, he was a laureate of the Tremplin program of the Tutti foundation and stood out during two gala concerts at the Opéra National de Paris in November 2022, alongside opera personalities such as Nicolas COURJAL, Anna PIROZZI, and Nicole CAR. At the Théâtre de l'Athénée in Paris, he will perform in the fall of 2023 the role of Esculapio in Antonio Sartorio's 'Orfeo,' conducted by Philippe JAROUSSKY, a co-production of the Fondation Royaumont and ARCAL
Since its establishment in 2020, the MOZAÏQUE ensemble has been invited to numerous festivals and concert halls in Germany and Austria, including Brucknerhaus Linz, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, Händelfestspiele Göttingen, Schloss Eckartsau, and Schlosstheater Rheinsberg. As winners of several international competitions such as the H. I. F Biber Competition and the Händel Competition in Göttingen, Mozaïque has been invited by Hervé NIQUET to perform at the Festival de Saintes on July 20.
Therefore, an outstanding concert is in store for the audience at Salle Cortot, a masterpiece of 1930s architecture with exceptional acoustics. Antonio CALDARA's music, with its fabulous energy and great expressiveness, will delight an audience invited to discover or rediscover the genius of this composer, who was unanimously acclaimed throughout Europe in the early 18th century.
The concert will begin promptly at 8:00 PM. The audience will be welcomed, and tickets can be purchased on-site starting from 7:30 PM (credit card and cash payments accepted).
